I arrived in Moshi, Tanzania to begin working at Moshi Institute of Technology teaching kids English and Internet studies. My classes had about 12 kids in each ranging from 17 to 20 years of age. At first, they were all very shy! After a few days though we were singing, laughing, and dancing! The teaching approach I took was to have lots of dialogue and role playing so they would converse in English with me and each other. The kids were all so willing to learn. Everyday we would read from books, tell stories, and sing songs.
